BIO

Born and raised just outside St. Louis MO, Ashleigh grew up attending theater with her mom, hiking, and dreaming about exploring the great big world we live in.
When Ashleigh was in 4th grade, her mom took her to see Wicked at the Fox Theater. Walking out of the theater she turned to her mom and said “I want to do that”. Of course at that point, she hadn’t accepted that she was not a good singer. From that point on she was seeing every show she could until she was in high school and could be part of a show.
During high school, Ashleigh was very involved in the theater program as well as speech and debate. Finally having the chance to be on stage showed her that she liked being backstage much better.
Ashleigh attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where she majored in Anthropology and minored in Theatre Arts and Philosophy. Most of her time outside of class was spent working on shows with any of the 6 student theater groups. Ashleigh fully planned on being an anthropologist, traveling the world doing research. However, after she spent a semester abroad in Athens fully focused on anthropology, she realized she could not leave theater behind and decided to be a professional stage manager instead.
Though she is not an anthropologist, she is grateful for everything she learned in that major and it has made her a better theater maker. She learned a lot about the human experience, empathy, and productive ways to ask questions. She also learned how integral storytelling has been across human history, and is grateful to be able to contribute to that tradition through theater.
After graduating, Ashleigh completed an apprenticeship at Gloucester Stage Company and has been working across the country since. Check out the “Productions” tab for pictures of the various shows she has worked on.
As an avid traveller, she hopes to visit all 50 states, all 63 national parks, and as many countries as possible.
